Tips of Japan
Nioh statues are usually statues that serve as gatekeepers at temples and other places. They are also called Kongorikishi statues, and although they may look scary, they are the guardian deities of Buddhism. The Nioh statues are a set of two statues, one with its mouth closed (Un-form) and the other with its mouth open (A-form).
