About of this item
Shirabyoshi was often danced by prostitutes and children dressed as men. It is said that what was originally a shrine maiden dance changed with the times. Although she was a courtesan, she was a high-class courtesan who went in and out of aristocratic mansions and had a wealth of knowledge. Eboshi Gozen, who appears in “Princess Mononoke", is also depicted wearing a Shirabyoshi outfit.
